Jamshedpur police arrest five including one woman for trafficking five girls from Ghurabandha to Madhya Pradesh

Jamshedpur, Jan 15: In a major breakthrough, the police on Saturday arrested five persons for trafficking as many girls from Ghurabandha in Ghatshila sub-division to Madhya Pradesh on the pretext of providing them job there.

While arresting the accused, the police succeeded to recover three of the girls.

Four of those arrested, including a woman are residents of Madhya Pradesh, the fifth one is a resident of Hatiapata village of Ghurabandha itself.

Revealing about the breakthrough, senior SP, M Tamil Vanan said that one Upendra Sabar who is a resident of Pahadpur in Ghurabandha on January 5 lodged a complaint that his daughter and four other girls of the same village have allegedly been sold in Madhya Pradesh.

“On getting the complaint, we set up a team and sent it to Madhya Pradesh. The team carried out an extensive search operation there and finally succeeded to recover three of the five victims, ” said Vanan while addressing a press conference on Saturday evening.

The senior SP said while recovering the girls, the police team arrested four persons, including a woman from Madhya Pradesh and later arrested the fifth person from Hataliapata today.

Vanan said the person arrested from Ghurabandha is a 22-year-old youth, Parmeshwar Munda. He said it was Parmeshwar who had lured the five girls into going over to Madhya Pradesh for jobs.

According to police, the girls taken to Madhya Pradesh were supposed to be shifted to Rajasthan where they would have been subjected to forced marriage.

The police sources said the whereabouts of the two remaining girls is yet to be known, adding that investigation into the fate of the two girls is on.

Those arrested from Madhya Pradesh were identified as Kuber Singh Parihar, Pappu Parihar, Mantu Goswami and Makdi Rathore.
