Jamshedpur, Feb 6: Police arrested three on Monday for allegedly being involved in a gun-shot attack on a man at the Tatanagar railway siding under the Burmamines thana area on December 18, 2022.

Those arrested were identified as Ayush Das, Ajit Gupta and Pawan Mondal, all residents of Burmamines and Railway Traffic Colony in Bagbera locality.

Having arrested the three from a place in the Jajpur district of Odisha, the police today recovered a 7.65 mm pistol and a magazine from a house at Baba Kutir in Bagbera.

Revealing the breakthrough, superintendent of police (City) K Vijay Shankar said that the trio had launched a gun-shot attack on one Bhola Pandey in the railway siding area on the night of December 18, causing the victim to sustain grievous bullet injuries.

“After the gun-shot attack which was the sequel to gang rivalry in the railway area, a team was set up to detect those indulged in the attack. But all three had absconded and had taken refuge at a place in the Jajpur district in Odisha, which is the native village of Ayush Das. The police team, however, succeeded in finding out the whereabouts of the accused and nabbed the three from Jajpur on Sunday,” said Vijay Shankar while talking to newsmen at a press conference on Monday.

The City SP said during interrogation, the accused persons divulged that they had hidden the pistol they had used in the attack at a place in Baba Kutir in Bagbera.  He said the pistol and a magazine were recovered following a raid at the place in Baba Kutir today.

Those arrested were forwarded to Ghaghidih Central Jail after their production before a judicial magistrate on Monday afternoon.
