Jamshedpur, March 30: Keeping the sensitivity of the steel city in the wake of Ramnavami, the police carried out flag-march across the city on Thursday afternoon.
Led by superintendent of police (city) K Vijay Shankar, the police officials and jawans started the flag-march from the Composite Control Room on Sakchi thana premises and covered all the localities considered to be sensitive.
The areas the cops covered in the precautionary exercise include Mango, Azadnagar, Ulidih, Sitaramdera, Golmuri, Telco, Kadma and Jugsalai.
Those participated in the flag-march were boarding the police jeeps. Cops riding bikes were also following the police vehicles.
While the convoy of police jeeps was passing through the Dimna Road from Ulidih in Mango, the City SP got down from his vehicle along with other police officials near Munsi Mohalla, and covered the stretch on foot.
While celebrating the Ramnavami, revellers from about 150 Akharas will hit the streets across the city tonight. On Friday afternoon, the Ramnavami Akhara participants will take out processions for immersion of the deities of Lord Ram in the rivers.
As thousands of participants will be on the streets, most of them carrying traditional weapons during the occasion, controlling the crowd of the Ramnavami participants becomes a challenging job for the administration.
The district police have made elaborate security arrangements for a peaceful Ramnavami jhanda procession tomorrow, today’s flag-march being one of them.
At some places, the police have decided to monitor the movement of the processions through drones.
