Jamshedpur, June 4: Police on Saturday recovered the body of a 35-year-old woman from behind Lal Bahadur Shashtri Memorial College (LSBM) in Karandih under Parsudih thana suspecting it to be a murder case.

The unidentified body which was partially burnt before being buried is still unidentified and was suspected to have been disposed off haphazardly for hushing up the murder.

The OC of Parsudih thana Vimal Kindo said that after exhuming the body and sentencing it to the MGM medical college mortuary today, they have registered a case of murder and attempt to hide evidence against unknown persons.

“There is no doubt about it being a murder case as the woman’s tongue was belched out and her head was apparently bludgeoned with boulders,” said Kindo.

The OC said though the body was buried by a group of people on Friday at about 3 pm, he came to know about it on Saturday morning from the Mukhiya of a local village. Immediately, after getting the information, a police team rushed to the spot.

According to the police officer, the police had also collected the CCTV footage of the road leading to the spot where the body was found buried.

“It was a small truck in which the body was carried. Garlands of marigold flowers were put on the deceased’s neck. Moreover, as the spot was a little distance away from a proper burial ground, this act had not aroused suspicion in anyone’s mind immediately. But as the head and legs were not properly buried, attracting the attention of some local residents, the matter finally came to the police’s notice,” said Kindo.

The OC pointed to the assailants who had killed the woman somewhere else and tried to hush up the case by burying it at a secluded place behind the LBSM college. He said before burying the body superficially, the assailants had burnt the face, apparently to make it unrecognizable.

“We are now trying to get the body identified. We will be able to solve the mystery behind the woman’s murder after the body gets identified only, ” said the OC, adding that investigation into the case is on.
