Jamshedpur, Jan 6: Under the new policing system, the patrolling teams of Jamshedpur police will have scan-through QR codes installed at as many as 1,500 bits across the city and the rural areas of the district.

Officers in charge of the concerned PS will have to maintain data on the scanning of the QR codes coupled with close monitoring by the senior officers so that the patrolling parties can not evade their duty.

East Singhbhum senior DP, Prabhat Kumar on Thursday evening launched smart policing through a QR code scanning system at the Composite Control Room (CCR) in Sakchi.

On this occasion, city SP, K Vijay Shankar and additional SP, Sudhanshu Jain and an IT professional, Gautam Kumar from Ranchi were present beside scores of police officers and constables.

During the launching of the new system, Kumar informed that initially 27 QR codes have been installed at Sakchi and 30 QR codes have been installed at Bistupur. The QR codes have been set up at leading jewellery shops, banks and hotels where patrolling parties have to keep a tab on regular basis.

The senior SP stated that the number of such QR codes will be increased to 1,500 shortly across the district so that businessmen, banks, schools and other educational institutions can be made safer by flawless police patrolling.

The senior police officer said warned that if any cop is found indulged in dereliction of duty would be taken care of.
