Jamshedpur, June 27: Eight fresh cases of Coronavirus were reported from various parts of steel city during the past 24- hours.
Data available from the health department revealed this has upped the total tally of Covid cases in Jamshedpur to 49 between June 15 and June 26.
Two cases each from Bistupur, Sakchi, Baridih and Telco were reported to test positive on Sunday out of 461 samples.
After their sample tests at MGM College Virology Department, the infected persons were admitted to hospitals.
The district health department issued an alert over rising cases of Covid-19 and asked the government and private hospitals to earmark separate beds for Covid patients.
The MGM Medical College and Hospital has a 100-bed Covid ward.
“We are appealing to people to follow the Covid-19 appropriate behaviour going to crowded places as it increases the risk of spread of the virus,” said Sahir Pal, the East Singhbhum surveillance officer.
He said they have also asked schools, colleges, hotels, restaurants and shopping malls to follow Covid guidelines in the wake of the detection of recent Covid cases.
Health data reveals that the East Singhbhum district has so far witnessed 1,049 Covid deaths.
