Jamshedpur, Oct 8: Nine fresh cases of Coronavirus were reported from various parts of the steel city on Thursday.
Data available from the health department revealed this has upped the total tally of Jamshedpur to 34 in the first week of October.
Two from Mango, one from Golmuri and six from Govindpur tested positive for coronavirus today. After their sample tests at MGM College Virology Department, the nine infected persons were shifted to the COVID-19 Ward of Tata Main Hospital.
The positive cases were reported from Telco, Jugsalai, Sonari, Bistupur and Mango.
The district health department has already issued an alert over rising cases of Covid-19 ever since the beginning of October.
” We are appealing people to follow the Covid-19 appropriate behaviour going to crowded places as it increases the risk of spread of the virus, ” said A K Lal, the civil surgeon of East Singhbhum district.
Data revealed that in September as many as 50 Covid positive cases were reported while in August the number of cases was around 55.
Meanwhile, screening and Covid-19 test of passengers arriving at Tatanagar railway station from various places have been intensified.
The checking drive was also intensified at the Sitaramdera Bus Terminus.
Health department officials expressed concern over the rising cases of Covid-19 and the possible third wave.
The East Singhbhum district has so far witnessed 1,048 Covid deaths.
