Jamshedpur, May 4: All private and government schools in Jamshedpur will conduct classes till 12 noon from May 5.
Following a directive issued by the East Singhbhum district administration on Wednesday, respective school management reversed the school timing.
“From tomorrow onwards classes in private and government schools would be conducted from 6.30 am to 12 noon. Such a decision was taken as the city is relieved of extreme heat due to rain and thunderstorm activity during the past few days. The day’s reading is quite comfortable with maximum temperature hovering much below 40 degrees Celsius,” said a district administration official.
Notably, most schools would also declare summer vacations around mid-May.
The extreme heat caused by the relentless heatwave conditions had prompted the district administration to ask schools last week to disperse classes by 10.30 am.
All private and government schools were since then conducting classes between 6.30 am and 10.30 am.
Schools welcomed the decision of the local administration as it will now help them in completing the portion in various subjects.
