Jamshedpur, Feb 15: A corpse wrapped in a blanket was found lying inside an abandoned toilet along the Kandra-Chowka road under the Kandra thana area in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district in the early hours of Wednesday.
The corpse, which has been reduced to a skeleton is yet to be identified. Officials are also not sure if the skeleton was that of a man or a woman.
The police recovered it and sent it to MGM Medical College mortuary for an autopsy to determine the gender of the skeleton and the reason for death.
Notably, workers of the Jharkhand Accelerated Road Development Corporation Ltd (JARDCL), while cleaning near Gitibera toll plaza discovered the corpse. Soon after, the concerned authority was informed who in turn informed the police.
Kandra thana OC Rajendra Kumar Mahto said that prima facie the case seems to be that of murder. “Unknown assailants might have dumped the murder victim in the abandoned toilet after wrapping it. We are yet to establish whether the corpse was that of a man or woman”, said Mahto while talking to Lagatar correspondent.
The OC said that the police will try to find out the assailants involved, but they will have to get the body identified as it has been reduced to a skeleton.
Notably, another body of a young woman was discovered a couple of weeks ago hanging from a tree near the same area.
