Jamshedpur, March 24: Police on Friday arrested three youths for allegedly inflicting grievous burn injuries to another youth at Kapali under the Chandil thana area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on February 15.
Those arrested were identified as Rahul Singh, Bhola Ansari and Mangal Majhi, all residents of Kapali bustee. The three accused had on the night of February 15 set a 27-year-youth, Laden Mahto, on fire after sprinkling petrol on him playfully.
As Laden was also their friend, the trio had rushed him to the MGM medical college hospital for treatment. But as the victim was severe, he needed better treatment at some private hospital.
Eventually, the victim’s family members shifted Laden to Lifeline Nursing-home after forcing the three accused to sign an agreement paper that the expenses towards the treatment in the nursing home would be borne by them.
Accordingly, the three started paying the bills against the treatment at the private health hub, but two weeks later they stopped making payment of the bills for the victim who is still undergoing treatment at the said nursing home.
As the three dishonored the agreement by refusing to pay the treatment bill further, the victim’s family members on Friday went over to the Kapali thana out-post and lodged a complaint against the three.
The police swung into action and arrested all three accused immediately and forwarded them to judicial custody.
