Dhanbad, Oct 13: Former international cricketers will be seen in action in the first Master Cricket National Tournament ( above 60 years) which will be held in Jamshedpur from November 2 to 5.
International cricketers, Rajesh Chauhan, Arun Lal and Surinder will be present during the tournament as observers.
Giving this information, the coordinator of the tournament and former Bihar Ranji team captain and East Zone star spinner Avinash Kumar said that the tournament is registered with Veteran India Cricket Foundation (VCI) and the winning team would be given Pankaj Memorial Cup.
“VCI is affiliated to the International Masters Cricket based in Australia. IMC used to conduct the World Cup Cricket in different age categories every two years,” he said.
This is the new initiative of VCI in India for retired cricketers over 60 years of age. The tournament has the support of Tata Steel, Tata Motors, RSB Group Co., JAMIPOL, and cricket lovers.
The matches will be 40 overs on each side with the Pink Cricket Ball at Keenan Stadium and Tata Motors Cricket Ground as per league basis. The winner of the tournament will be decided as per Net Run rate. No final match will be played.
Four teams have announced the names of their captain and his deputy. They are-
Sixties Giants – Captain Naresh Shenoy (Mumbai) and Dr Aadil Chagla as vice-captain (Mumbai)
Sixties Strangers -Captain Ramaseshan Neelakantan (Chennai) and Padmanabhan S as vice-captain (Mumbai)
Sixties Royals – Captain Rajsekhar Raman (Chennai) and Rajgoapla Naidu as vice-captain (Bangalore)
Sixties Heroes – Captain Avinash Kumar (Jharkhand) and Pradeep Godbole as vice-captain (Mumbai)
