Jamshedpur, Oct 28: A two-day “Faculty Development Programme” with an aim to equip academics with the skills necessary to excel in careers as researchers and educators, kicked off at XLRI Jamshedpur today. The programme on October 28-29 is being conducted under the guidance of Prof Munish Thakur of XLRI.
The event witnessed active participation from XAT 2023’s XAMI members. Management academicians from premier institutions like Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) – Chennai, St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM) – Bangalore, Xavier Institute of Development Action and Studies (XIDAS) – Jabalpur, Xavier Institute of Management – XIM University Bhubaneswar, XLRI – Delhi NCR, St. Xavier’s College – Dumka, Xavier Institute of Development Action and Studies (XIDAS) – Jabalpur, St Xavier’s Univ (SXUK) – Kolkata and some more had participated.
On the inauguration day of the event, Fr Donald D’ Silva , Dean of Administration & Finance welcomed the gathering, “XAT is not just XLRI, it is indeed the participation of all our XAMI members. This Faculty Development Programme is a small initiative of XLRI to attain its mission of being committed to excellence in management education, research and training. It is going to be a small networking and learning exercise where we’ll get an opportunity to learn from each other,” he said.
A small video clip talking about the heritage of XLRI was also played during the inauguration event. The crowd also witnessed the students’ emotions towards their institution “XL Meri Jaan” and heard the Alumni talk about their achievements and success and how XLRI helped them grow.
Further, during his interaction with the gathering, Fr Donald also shared that XLRI is soon going to celebrate its Platinum Jubilee. “All our faculty and staff members have together helped us achieve our mission so far and there is a long way to go for XLRI,” he said.
Prof Munish Thakur is the Program Director of the Faculty Development Programme at XLRI Jamshedpur. He has nearly two decades of experience and extensive administrative experience as the head of research and admissions at XLRI.
He interacted with the participants and said, “We are going to follow an open approach for our workshop. Institutions are now moving towards research and are establishing a presence in emerging segments of management education. Hence, we will be discussing more about the different types of research and designs, writing case studies and some more topics.”
