Jamshedpur, July 13: Trying her luck to earn money through digital marketing caused a woman in Birsanagar to lose over Rs eight lakhs to cyber criminals.
In this connection, the victim, Raj Kumari Jaiswal, lodged an FIR with the Bistupur-based Cyber police station on Thursday.
A resident of Zone No 10, Birsanagar, Raj Kumari has mentioned in the FIR that on June 28 she received a call from mobile phone No. 8886352307 on which the caller lured her into participate in digital marketing for earning money by sitting at home.
According to the FIR, the caller made Raj Kumari to learn how to start the digital marketing by subscribing a video link in the YouTube and earn money by investing through Cryptocurrency.
On agreeing to participate in the digital marketing, Raj Kumari earned Rs 150 by investing over Rs 35,000 through Cryptocurrency, but after a stage her deposit was stuck.
Subsequently, on making queries, the recipient of call on the other side asked her to deposit Rs two lakhs, promising the refund of the total amount to her bank account. Believing the words, she deposited the money as asked for but no refund was made.
Raj Kumari who was already trapped was given some other reasons behind the bottleneck and was asked to deposit Rs 4.5 lakhs to get back the whole money with the profit amount. She followed the instruction on July 7, but she never got back her money.
Then only she realised that she was duped of her hard-earned money by the cyber criminals.
Inspector, Upendra Mandal of the Cyber thana said a case has been registered on the complaint lodged by Raj Kumari Jaiswal, adding that they would start investigation into the case soon.
