Jamshedpur, Sept 21: Mystery shrouds the death of a 24-year-old woman whose body was found lying in a room of an Oyo-tagged lodge under Adityapur thana area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Tuesday night.
The woman’s body was discovered from the lodge, Hotel Subheksha, hours after she had checked in along with a 32-year-old man at around noon.
The man, who escaped from the lodge sometimes in the afternoon, was identified from his Aadhaar card xerox copy submitted with the lodge reception counter as Anwar Palwan alias Moinuddin, a resident of Kolkata.
After staying at room No 101 in the noon, the man had gone out of the lodge on some alibi at 3 pm having kept the room’s door ajar. But as there was no call from the room service till late in the evening, the lodge service staff got inquisitive. On checking the room, they found the body lying on the floor.
The lodge manager, Dilip Ghosh, had immediately informed the police.
OC, Adityapur thana, Rajan Kumar said the woman who was a resident of Kuchai was suspected to have been strangulated to death by the man who had come along with the victim to the lodge.
“We have recovered some objectionable things from the room. The murder victim and the suspected assailant were not married couple. We are trying to detect the case by means of an investigation with technical support, ” said Rajan while talking to lagatar24.com.
He said they are also scanning the CCTV footage for a clue to the suspected murder.
The OC said they have sent the body to Seraikela Sadar Hospital for postmortem and are trying to contact the family members of the murder victim.
Located along the Adityapur-Kandra four-lane at a densely-populated area like Adityapur, the Hotel Subheksha, has turned into a controversial lodge as young couples apparently having dubious background book rooms there for brief period on a regular basis with the police doing little in monitoring the clandestine practice.
