Jamshedpur, July 5: A 28-year-old youth was injured as two bike-borne youths shot at him in Chhota Govindpur under the Govindpur thana area in the eastern fringe of the steel city on Wednesday morning.
Identified as Ashwin Kumar, the victim was fired upon as he was riding to a crematorium by negotiating a road close to Khakripara SD School in Chhota Govindpur around 10.30 am.
Ashwin who sustained a pellet in the shoulder has been rushed to Tata Motors Hospital in Telco where his condition is described as serious.
Govindpur OC said they are yet to take a formal statement from the gunshot injured, but gathered that the attack conspired in a sequel to an old enmity.
“The area where the shooting took place is a densely-populated area, we will find out the attackers soon. Investigation into the incident is on, ” said the OC while talking to lagatar24.com.
The broad-day-light shooting has triggered sensation across Govindpur as it took place in a locality like Chhota Govindpur.
According to sources, Ashwin who is also a resident of Chhota Govindpur was going to attend the last rites of a relative, but at the sight of the attackers, he tried to deviate his route. The attackers had chased him before opening the fire.
