Dhanbad, Nov. 17: Jamtara, which is notorious for cybercrime across the country, has now turned into a den of bike lifters gangs. Dhanbad police have recovered 13 bikes from Jamtara district that were stolen from different areas of the Coal town. Three bike lifters have been arrested with the stolen vehicles.
Dhanbad senior superintendent of police (SSP) Sanjiv Kumar while claiming to have busted the inter-district bike lifter gang operating from Jamtara district said that 17 members of this syndicate have been nabbed in five days.
“Installation of 44 CCTV cameras at central points in the district led to the identification of the bike lifters’ gang. On the basis of CCTV footage, Govindpur police of Dhanbad arrested Abdul Samad, Mohmuddin Ansari residents of Narayanpur of Jamtara district and Sikandar Shah of Govindpur (Dhanbad),” said SSP Sanjiv Kumar.
The SSP said that the lifters gang after lifting the bike in Dhanbad dismantle the engine and other parts of vehicles in the Jamtara district and sell them cheaply to other persons.
“All the arrested 17 criminals are members of the Jamtara gang,” he said.
Sanjiv Kumar informed that stolen bikes are also being used in illegal coal transporting by coal thieves in the district.
