Japan University’s teachers, students watch ‘Black Board’ model of Dumka in live action

Dhanbad, Jan 19: Teachers and students of  Osaka University, Japan today saw the live action of teaching and learning of students in Jharkhand’s famous Dumarthar Middle School’s ‘Black Board ‘ model in Dumka district.

 

In a two hours live conference, the teachers and students of Osaka University saw the live classes and took details of the Black Board model from Dr Sapan Kumar, the principal of Dumarthar Government Middle School in Jarmundi block of Dumka.

When all the educational institutions across the country were closed due to the lockdown of Corona pandemic in 2019-20, tribal dominated Dumarthar Middle School shot into limelight for its new and unique Black Board innovation by holding regular classes for students.

The Principal along with the guardians of students held classes in the lanes of the village and made black boards on clay walls of houses. Over 302 students read in the class and interestingly, all had prepared chalks and mats themselves for using on black board.

“Prof Kima Tunijo and students of Osaka University (Japan) today connected with us through live webinar at our Dumarthar village street class and took details about our feelings and experience of the idea of ‘Black Board’ model,” said principal Sapan.

He further said that the teachers and students of Japan university became impressed over the model of imparting education during the pandemic period and highly appreciated it.

Besides Japan, the educational institutions of the USA, London China, Canada and other countries have already appreciated the black board model of Dumka village.

Principal Sapan said that Prof Sharada Sinha of NCERT New Delhi, who had coordinated the webinar with Osaka University,  after the programme informed that teachers of the University were so impressed by the Black Board  model that they are planning to view live video of the Dumka Middle School.
