Jamshedpur, Oct 4: Areas serviced by Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited ( JBVNL ) can look forward to hassle-free power during Durga Puja this year.
The Singhbhum supply area of JBVNL, the transmission wing, will start an electrician-on-call service in its command areas for the five festive days, beginning Mahasashthi on October 11.
A JBVNL junior engineer said 24-hour control rooms will be set up in Adityapur and Karandih.
“The control rooms will be functional on all the five festive days.We wish to minimise chances of power failure,” said the junior engineer of JBVNL’s Mango circle.
The electrician-on-call will be offered by all four power subdivisions of Jamshedpur — Karandih, Jugsalai, Govindpur and Mango. The service will also be available for JBVNL command areas in Adityapur in the adjoining the Seraikela-Kharsawan district.
Anyone seeking help to fix a snag could either call the control room or the SDOs and junior engineers of their respective areas.
At a meeting held here today, JBVNL officials decided to make public the cell numbers of its officials at circle and subdivisional levels for the convenience of subscribers.
It has prepared a list of areas where senior officials will constantly monitor the power supply. In case of a breakdown, the matter will immediately be reported to the general manager’s office for corrective measures.
Meanwhile, the authorities of Singhbhum circle requested the state load despatch centre (SLDC) in Ranchi, which feeds power to the two grid substations in Gamharia and Golmuri, and asked it to ensure steady supply during the festive days.
JBVNL has also started taking shutdowns in its command areas for replacing all defunct transformers, conductors and cables as a run-up for the festival.
