Dhanbad Nov 5: The doctors who have completed MBBS from any other state and are practicing in Jharkhand will now need to get registered with the state (Jharkhand) council of medical registration.
The Jharkhand Council of Medical Registration (JCMR) has made registration mandatory for the doctors practicing in the state. At the meeting, the council unanimously fixed January 31 2022 the last date to get registered or face action as per the rule book. The council also decided to write-off post graduate (PG) inclusion fee of the doctors till January 2022.
The meeting was held after 17 years. Sources said that though the Jharkhand Council of Medical Registration was formed in 2004, its first meeting was held on November 3 to activate the body and form guidelines.
As per official records, there are lots of doctors who practice in Jharkhand on MBBS degrees from Bihar and other states.
JCMR President Dr Shahir Pall said that registration with the concerned state council for practicing is mandatory for MBBS across the country. So, Jharkhand has also implemented those guidelines as well as rules for those who completed their MBBS from other states but are practicing here. So those MBBS practitioners in Jharkhand will have to get registered, he added.
“Till date Jharkhand follows Bihar Medical Council’s rules book. But we have decided to make Jharkhand’s own guidelines now. We are studying the medical council rule book of 8 to10 states and will prepare a draft in the interest of Jharkhand,” said Dr Shahir Pall.
JCMR Registrar Dr. Bimlesh Singh informed that now meetings will be held regularly to take decisions in the interest of doctors of the state.
At the meeting, JCMR also resolved to write-off Rs. 200 for PG inclusion till January 31 due to the Corona pandemic.
Apart from the President and Registrar of JCMR, Dr. Praveen Chandra, Dr. Basudev Das, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Singh, Dr. Vivek Kashyap and Dr. Amar Kumar Singh attended the meeting.
