Dhanbad, Nov 24: Jharkhand District Boards Association (JDBA) chairman Shalini Gupta has given a 7-days ultimatum to the Railway Board to either give the Up and Down Howrah- Jodhpur Express a stoppage at Koderma, Parasnath railway stations or face an agitation.

In her memorandum to the railway minister as well as the general manager of  the East Central Railway (ECR) Hajipur zone, Shalini Gupta has said that devotees of Koderma, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Biharsharif (Bihar) and Giridih visit Ajmer Sharif, Khatu Shyam Temple and Parshvanath Jain temple in large numbers. But the cancellation of Ajmer- Sealdah special train from December 1will hit them the most.

The Railway Board has announced cancellation of Ajmer- Sealdah Express train for three months from December 1 to February 28, 2022 due to fog problems.

Shalini Gupta said that the stoppage of Jodhpur- Howrah Express at Koderma, Parasnath railway stations is already suspended from June 1, 2020. After the cancellation of Ajmer- Sealdah Express train, the devotees will be left with no direct means to visit Rajasthan. So, in the interest of people, the board should restore the stoppage of Howrah –Jodhpur at these two stations so that devotees do not suffer.

“If railway does not take any decision by November 30, people of the region will stop trains’ movement at Koderma railway station by squatting on the track,” said Shalini Gupta, who is also the chairman of Koderma District Board.
