Jharkhand: 16 villagers killed in police-Naxal fight since November

Ranchi, Oct 8: In the ongoing decisive battle between the police and Naxalites in the Kolhan region of Jharkhand, innocent villagers are losing their lives.

To date, in this conflict, 16 villagers have been killed, with 11 of them falling victim to IEDs planted by Naxalites. The remaining five villagers were shot dead by Naxalites.

In Kolhan, a total of 40 security camps have been established, including 31 from the CRPF and nine from the Jharkhand police.

During the ongoing campaign against Naxalites, four soldiers have been martyred. Among them, one soldier lost his life due to an IED blast, while three soldiers were martyred during encounters with Naxalites. Additionally, 21 soldiers have been injured, and eight villagers have also been wounded.

The areas of Tonto and Goelkera in Kolhan are currently under heavy Naxalite influence.

In Kolhan, there are approximately 100 Naxals, including Misir Besra, Patiram Maanji, Asim Mandal, Chaman, Santosh, Ajay Mahato, Anmol Da, Bela Sarkar, Ram Prasad Marandi, Amit Munda, Gulshan Munda, Santosh Mahato, Bhavani, Madan Mahato, Mehnat, Kande Hogahanga, Jayanti, Saluka Kayam, Prabhat Munda, Ravi Singh Sardar, Nayantara, Amoj Modak, Sagen Angaria, Suleman Hansda, Rahul Champia, Bablu and Gauri.
