Hazaribag, Jan 9: The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) team working at Obra Mound in Chatra has instructed labourers not to eat pan masala or any other kind of tobacco.
The team is working cautiously to avoid any damage to the relics underneath. Superintending archeologist Rajendra Dehuri said its a slow process and after cleaning the surface, they have started digging the mound.
While the work is in its initial stage, a part of the kalash seen in the mound which officials is asthi kalash. Many such asthi kalash is visible around this mound.
Around 20 labourers are engaged to dig the mound. Dehuri said Obra is a megalithic site and they are hopeful of getting relics of stone age.
“We will go for the carbon dating of the relics, we will take out from here,” added he.
“Even we want to go for scientific study of the relics and eating pan masala or any kind of tobacco means spiting which will destroy the ancient findings, added he. So we have asked all labourers to stay away from pan masala round the day,” he said.
Dehuri told Lagatar24.com that dust creates trouble for them while digging. So we have asked labourers to wear mask for safety, added he.
In last few days, ASI has ditrcted directed labourers to clean the surface of the mound by removing the upper layer of the mud.
Now cleaning done, labourers digging the mound very cautiously to take put the relics underneath. It will take few more days to reach to the things we are looking for, added Dehuri.
