Jharkhand, Australia Explore Long-Term Cooperation in Agriculture and Animal Husbandry

Ranchi: Jharkhand’s Agriculture Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey met Australian High Commissioner Philip Green OAM and his delegation to discuss future cooperation, with a special focus on modern agriculture and animal husbandry technologies that could benefit the state.

Focus on Technology for Farmers and Livestock Rearers

During the meeting, the minister said Jharkhand is keen to adopt new agricultural and animal husbandry technologies so that local farmers and livestock rearers can improve productivity and income. She highlighted the need for long-term collaboration that ensures these advanced techniques reach grassroots communities, particularly in rural and tribal areas.

Australian Team Visits Tribal Regions

The Australian delegation also visited tribal-dominated regions of Jharkhand to better understand local conditions. High Commissioner Philip Green said he was encouraged by the visit and gained insights into coal mining, tribal society, agriculture and animal husbandry in the state. He expressed confidence that future initiatives would be taken forward in cooperation with the Jharkhand government.

Officials Present at the Meeting

The discussion was attended by Australian First Secretary Tom Sanderford and Senior Economic Research Officer Anagha, along with Jharkhand agriculture secretary Abu Bakkar Siddiqui, special secretary Pradeep Hajari, agriculture director Bhor Singh Yadav and SAMETI director Vikas Kumar.
