Ranchi, June 1: The BJP in its attempt to expose a deep-rooted corruption in Jharkhand today pointed out irregularities in the tender management for government sponsored works.

BJP legislature party chief Babulal Marandi through a Tweet brought into the notice of Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren and the ED officials that a tender has been floated in Dumka for the work which has already been completed with the connivance of contractors and government officers.

“About a year ago in Dumka, there was an embezzlement of Rs 1.42 crores in the Rural Development Special Divisional Department. In this case, the lower rung employees are in jail, while the officers are happy. Here, in the name of repair and renovation of hostels, a tender worth Rs 1.81 crore has been floated. Work has already been done for many hostels before the tender. A tender worth Rs 45 lakh each has been floated for the repair of each hostel,” the Tweet reads.

Marandi has expressed concern over the system working in the state and urged the enforcement directorate to extend its scope of investigation to Dumka.

“Who is giving protection to the misappropriation, embezzlement and loot of government funds due to the nexus between the contractor and the engineer. The government did not consider it appropriate to conduct an ACB probe into the embezzlement case of Rs 1.42 crore in Dumka. The Dumka police have already sent the employee who lodged the FIR in this case to jail. The embezzled money was also not recovered. Rural Development Special Division is the same department whose chief engineer Virendra Ram is currently in jail. ED is probing the money laundering case. ED should extend the scope of investigation to Dumka so that action can be taken against the real scamsters involved in embezzlement. I have been saying from the beginning that there is not one Virendra Ram in Jharkhand. There are many Virendra Rams in each district,” the Tweet reads.
