Daltonganj, June 23: State spokesperson for the BJP Pratul Shah Deo and others were detained by the police at Chandwa on Thursday.

Chandwa police detained Deo and others in the inspection bungalow at Chandwa for more than four hours. They were let off only when Chief Minister Hemant Soren flew down for Ranchi.

The CM was in Latehar today where he graced a divisional programme of the distribution of the KCC among the Birsa Kisan.

Pratul said he and his party workers were on their way to Latehar to meet Latehar DC Abu Imran when they were detained by the Chandwa police citing orders that have come from above not to allow them to reach Latehar.

Madan Sharma, the officer in charge of the Chandwa police station, said the police detained Pratul and others as there were orders from above to do so.

Pratul said he and his party men were going to Latehar to seek justice for a family which lost two girl children in a suspected case of food poisoning.

The girls had eaten ring kurkure and mixture and fell sick leading to their hospitalisation at the RIMS Ranchi where on the night of June 5 and 7 the two died.

Pratul said the Latehar administration is not only insensitive but has also no respect for human rights.

Pratul said the state food testing lab Namkum and RIMS Ranchi have not sent their respective reports to the Latehar administration as yet.
