Ranchi, Oct.2: People in the Jharkhand capital remembered the Father of nation Mahatma Gandhi and former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary.
NSS volunteer Deepak Gupta distributed books, pens, and exercise books among poor children to mark Gandhi Jayanti. Before the distribution of study material, Gupta underlined the importance of education among the children saying one can register over evil practices in India by the power of education.
At CRPF Group Centre in Sembo, Fit India Run 2 was organised in which CRPF personnel and students of Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Dhurwa also participated.
D.A.V.School teachers remembered both the leaders on the concluding day of their two-day academic seminar. Regional assistant officer M.K.Sinha remembered Mahatma Gandhi as the father of the nation while remembering Lal Bahadur Shastri for his slogan Jai Jawan Jai Kisan.
Trade body Federation of Jharkhand Chambers of Commerce and Industries members garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi near Kali Mandir. Chamber president Dheeraj Taneja said Gandhi’s philosophy came as a great help to make India open defecation-free.
A blood donation camp was organised at five places including New Police Line, Rajkiya Madhya Vidyalaya, Hatia, Nagarmal Modi Seva Sadan, State Bank of India, Dakra, and XISS auditorium.
