Hazaribag, Jan 11: On a tip-off, a police team in Chatra nabbed an area commander of the Tritiya Prastui Sammelan Committee (TSPC) on the border of Chatra and Palamau in Kunda. The arrested area commander is identified as Jitan Manjhi alias Jitan Bharti alias Jitan Bhuiyan. Jitan is a member of the squad run by zonal commander Sashikant.
Sources said the superintendent of police Rakesh Ranjan got a tip-off in this regard. He formed a team led by Simaria subdivisional police officer Ashok Priyadarshi to carry out a raid.
Notably, the team carried out a raid in the Tilsaraiya forest in Angada on the border of Palamau. The arrested commander was wanted in many cases including firing on the then Manatu block development officer, firing on a police party for the cultivation of poppies and many others.
Police officials said he was very close to the second top leader of the outfit Akraman ji and the zonal commander Shashikant. Priyadarshi confirmed his arrest.
