Hazaribag, Jan 10: Police tasted big success by arresting a Maoist named Lalu Yadav who was an expert in making and planting bombs from his village Gere in the Kunda block of Chatra district. The superintendent of police Rakesh Ranjan confirmed his arrest and said the police was behind him since 2015.

Notably, Lalu was known as a bomb planner as well as a courier of the Maoists. He was part of the explosive team of the outfit.

Sources said Lalu Yadav was known as an expert in making bombs for the outfit. He was also an expert in planting bombs and targeting police parties.

In 2015, he planted bombs on the Hesatu-Dundu road which was to be used by security forces. But timely information made the police diffuse bombs foiling the plan of Maoists.

An FIR was lodged in this connection at Pratatppur police station against Lalu. Several attempts to catch Lalu failed as every time he used to give the police a slip.

According to police sources, Ranjan got a tip-off about Yadav coming to his village. Ranjan formed a special team led by subdivisional police officer Avinash Kumar which carried out a raid on his house on Monday resulting in his arrest.

His arrest came as a big jolt for Maoists. He was part of an explosive team of the Maoists and also worked as a courier for them.

“We will interrogate him to know more about the outfit and its active members,” added officials.

Talking to Lagatar24.com, Ranjan confirmed the arrest of Lalu Yadav. He was wanted in an old case (read 2015), he added.
