Daltonganj, June 23: About 40 percent of children in Jharkhand are malnourished, said Chief Minister Hemant Soren today in Latehar where he had graced a divisional programme of the distribution of the KCC among the Birsa Kisan.
“Today our families have scarcity of milk, egg and other products of the cattle and it is telling upon the nutritional strength of the poor families,” the CM said. He asked the Birsa Kisan to go for fishery, poultry and piggery.
The CM also lauded the efforts of the Sakhi Mandal in bringing the Palash brand a name now.
“We have earmarked spaces in the big malls where we will have our Palash brand counter too,” he said. He asked women to venture into making anything they like papads, pickles etc.
The CM said the state government is aiming at taking down this Palash brand marketing to be a Rs 1,000 crore worth turnover.
KCC were distributed among the Birsa Kisan of the three districts Palamu, Garhwa and Latehar.
The chief minister was accompanied by the minister of agriculture etc Badal Patralekh. Two MLAs Baidyanath Ram of the JMM and Ramchander Singh of the Congress were also present in the programme.
