Ranchi, June 21: Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais participated in the mass yoga practice program organised in association with Patanjali Yogpeeth, Ranchi at Raj Bhawan and extended his greetings and best wishes to all on International Yoga Day.

“The whole world has adopted our yoga system. It is a matter of great pride for us that when our Prime Minister proposed in the context of International Day of Yoga on the global stage, more than 150 countries supported it,” the governor said.

Apart from the governor, Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan along with all the judges practised various yoga postures as the Judicial Academy of Dhurva celebrated the 8th International Yoga Day on Tuesday.

International Yoga Day was also celebrated at the Central Coalfields Limited (CCL). Yoga sessions were organised throughout the company under the supervision of trained Yoga professionals. Employees of the company, along with their families, took part in the sessions.

Speaking on the occasion CMD, CCL P.M. Prasad stated everyone should try to make Yoga a part of lifestyle for healthy well-being. He further informed that various Yoga sessions are being continually organised in the company.

Notably, Union Minister Arjun Munda also participated in a yoga camp organised at Birsa Munda Stadium in Khunti on the occasion of International Yoga Day. This time Khunti was also included in 75 historical and cultural places of the country, where yoga camp was organized.

However, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren seems to have missed the International Yoga Day as there has been no participation by him so far in any of the Yoga events taking place in the city.

The United Nations passed a resolution in 2015 declaring June 21 every year as the International Yoga Day (World Yoga Day). India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged the International Community to adopt 21 June as International Yoga Day.

According to Vedic Books, it was the day when Lord Shiva first taught Yoga to his disciples. The knowledge of Yoga first descended from Shiva on this day. This is the reason why several Yogic preachers had advocated celebrating June 21 as International Yoga Day.
