Godda, July 6: Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the newly constructed Rs 38 crore district collectorate building and laid foundation for development schemes ahead of the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Deoghar on July 12.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the newly built Deoghar Airport and AIIMS in the temple town, which falls under Godda parliamentary constituency. Besides, Modi will launch a series of other development projects meant for Santhal Pargana otherwise considered to be the JMM’s stronghold.
Soren did not miss the opportunity to blame the BJP and held it responsible for the prevailing crisis the people of the state are made to undergo for over the last two decades since Jharkhand came into being.
“Those having ruled the state for the maximum period since Jharkhand was separated, had the only ambition to plunder the state,” Soren alleged without naming the saffron party and cited the challenges his government had to face soon after the formation of the new coalition government.
On one hand, the state’s treasury was empty by the time we took over the government, and on the other hand, the pandemic struck the entire world, he stated.
“Notwithstanding the prevailing adversities our government managed to lessen the miseries of the people in a more efficient way than any other state otherwise ruled by our rival party,” he said. The state government didn’t let anyone die of starvation even in the most remote and inaccessible pockets during the lockdown period, he added.
Soren further alleged that the previous governments introduced schemes only on papers with no sign of development anywhere in the state.
He inaugurated the newly constructed Godda collectorate building, laid foundation for 251 schemes and a new police centre, inaugurated 17 schemes and distributed assets worth Rs 1,316.28 lakh among 1,345 beneficiaries of welfare schemes.
Soren said that the state government is working on all fronts, and schemes are being implemented for all sections of the society. He said that education was hampered for many students during the pandemic, particularly the government school students.
“Today, our government is building model schools in all the districts where facilities will be at par with the private schools. The state is planning to take it forward to the level of blocks and panchayats,” Soren said while inaugurating the schemes at Godda College.
He said that the state government has broken the record of the last 20 years in paddy procurement. It has approved the rice mill to process the paddy for distribution among the people. He further said that earlier recruitment used to take more than 1,000 days but today recruitment is done within 200 to 250 days. Para teachers were given due respect and agriculture officers were recruited, he said.
The state government is committed to raise the living standard of poor people and problems of ‘sahiya’ sisters will be resolved, he assured. He also promised to consider the suggestions given by Poreyahat MLA Pradeep Yadav for setting up a solar power plant in Godda and Mahagama MLA Deepika Singh Pandey for taking care of the health of Godda people.
Soren’s cabinet colleague Alamgir Alam, Mahgama MLA Deepika Singh Pandey, Podaiyahaat MLA Pradeep Yadav, principal secretary Rajiv Arun Ekka, secretary Vinay Choubey and the chief secretary (in-charge) Arun Singh also accompanied him.
Later the Chief Minister flew to Deoghar and revised the preparatory arrangements for the PM’s July 12 visit to the temple town.
