Jamshedpur, April 3: Chief minister Hemant Soren today laid the foundation stone for Rs 2,000 crore expansion project at Tinplate Company of India Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Steel based in Jamshedpur.
Currently the capacity of TCIL is 0.415 metric tonnes per annum (MnTPA). This is the first phase of TCIL’s expansion, in which an investment of about Rs 2000 crore will be made.
This will ensure an additional capacity of 0.30 MT per annum, which is planned to reach approximately 0.715 MT per annum (MnTPA) by the year 2026.
Addressing the ground breaking function here this afternoon, the chief minister said that the contribution of Tata group to the state and the country is commendable.
” More and more industries should be set up. We are making efforts in this direction,” said the chief minister addressing the august gathering.
He went on to say that if industries are set up in the state, then employment will be generated.
” I hope that the expansion project will be completed on time. This will help local people to get direct and indirect employment. This has always been the intention of my government, ” he said.
Senior officials from Tata Steel and TCIL were present at the ground breaking function.
The chief minister further said that it is the result of the industrial policy that today ground breaking was done for the expansion project of TCIL which manufactures tin products used primarily in food processing industries and packaged food.
The chief minister praised Tata group and said that it has played a major role in the development of the country.
Cabinet ministers Champai Soren, Banna Gupta, MLAs Ramdas Soren, Sabita Mahto, Mangal Kalindi and Sanjeev Sardar were also present.
Principal Secretary to chief minister Vandana Dadel, Secretary to Chief Minister Vinay Kumar Choubey, Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum Vijaya Jadhav, Managing Director-cum- CEO of Tata Steel T V Narendran, VP (Corporate Services ) Tata Steel Chanakya Chowdhary and Managing Director of TCIL RN Murthy also attended the ground breaking function.
