Ranchi, Sept.15: Hours after meeting Governor Ramesh Bais and pressing him to clear the air over his disqualification, Chief Minister Hemant Soren flew to New Delhi on Thursday.
However, the CM secretariat has not disclosed the itinerary and engagement of the Chief Minister in Delhi. But it is believed that the possibility can’t be ruled out that the CM may meet President Droupadi Murmu and other political dignitaries.
“The CM left for Delhi and will return tomorrow. I don’t know whether he is set to visit the President of India also,” said JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya. But it is sure that the 1932-domicile policy and 27 OBC reservations passed by the cabinet will top the agenda of the Delhi visit. The possibility can’t be ruled out that he may lobby to exert pressure on the Governor to finally pass the order on his disqualification.
In the last couple of days, the ruling UPA alliance headed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren has pushed the BJP on the back foot. He dared the Raj Bhavan to take a final call on the opinion of the Election Commission of India about his disqualification.
Today’s meeting is seen as the political posturing of Hemant Soren. The letter he handed over to the Governor reads like a memo of charges where he said the silence of the Governor has created a milieu of uncertainty.
