Ranchi, Sept.6: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to direct the ministry of women and social welfare to release Rs 312 crore recommended by the 15th finance commission for Jharkhand and fund for coming years to fight malnutrition among ST and SC community children.

Soren in his letter has pointed out how important the fund is for Jharkhand.

“In Jharkhand, according to NFHS-4 survey, every second child of age group 0 to 6 is malnourished, 45 percent children are underweight, 29 percent children are wasted, 11.3 percent children are most malnourished and 40.3 percent children are stunted,” Soren has mentioned.

Soren said the fund is important for the state as it is contemplating giving supplementary diet to children of age group 3 to 6 in Anganwadi centres.
