Ranchi, March 13: The Jharkhand Congress today staged demonstration outside the Raj Bhawan demanding a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) to probe into ‘Adani-Modi friendship’.

The agitation was part of a countrywide demonstration attended by state president Rajesh Thakur, former union minister Subodh Kant Sahay, and other senior Congress party leaders.

“The central government’s policy of crony capitalism in favour of the Adani group is not right,” Thakur said.

“The work of putting the savings of the poor and middle classes at risk is being done by selling the country’s vital infrastructure to the Adani group and forcing public institutions like SBI and LIC to invest in the Adani group. Congress is the country’s first democratic party. Congress will never remain silent as the poor’s money is looted. The Congress Party will continue to protest Modi and Adani’s friendship on the road. This movement will continue until the Central Government forms a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) and the matter is thoroughly investigated,” he added.

Sahay echoed Thakur saying that the Modi government is suppressing the voice of the opposition by hijacking the Parliament.

“It is the effect of the pair of Narendra Modi and Adani that today Adani has become a man worth 20 lakh crores in 8 years. Congress is on the road against the Modi government’s policy of selling the country,” he said.

The Mahila Congress also actively participated in the programme. Under the leadership of state women president Gunjan Singh, hundreds of women reached the Raj Bhavan. Before this, the Congress workers assembled at Bapu Vatika. In view of the Congress’ demonstration, police personnel were deployed all along the way and near the Raj Bhavan. Barricades were put up by the police at the crossroads near the Raj Bhavan.
