Ranchi, Aug. 12: A CRPF jawan from state’s Giridih district, Ajay Kumar Rai, was martyred in an encounter with terrorists today morning at Avantipura, close to Pulwama in Kashmir.
Rai, a resident of Dhengadih under Deori police station area of Giridih, was on duty when terrorists opened fire all of a sudden compelling Rai and his team members to retaliate. Rai sustained bullet injuries and later succumbed on the spot.
As soon as the information reached the martyr’s family members a pall of gloom descended in the locality at their house.
Rai had joined CRPF service in 2017 and recently he was deputed for duty in Amarnath.
