Ranchi, Jan 6: The Jharkhand Police and district administration in association with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) deputed for anti-Naxal operations in forest areas of Jharkhand established a ‘Jan Kalyan Kendra’ at Pravatpur in Giridih.

The place is close to Parasnath Hill, which is regarded as the crown of Jharkhand and famous for having Sammed Shikharji, a famous religious destination for the Jain community.

The purpose of the Kendra is to create awareness among the villagers regarding welfare schemes of the state government and help them take advantage for their personal benefit.

The centre will help villagers get death and birth certificates, job cards to get work under rural job schemes, ration cards, Aadhar cards, agriculture services, medical services, police verification certificates and benefits of housing schemes.

Those present during the inauguration of the Kendra, including Giridih DC, CO of 154 CRPF Battalion and Giridih SP among others. The centre will be visited by officials from various departments on a rotation basis based on a chart that has been prepared.

Moreover, IG (operation) and police spokesperson AV Homkar confirmed the development sharing of security camps in the state is being converted into integrated development centres (IDC). He said earlier a similar centre was opened at Khunti.

“We are developing such interior Naxal-affected locations where camps have been established as Jan Kalyan Kendra as a joint initiative of district administration, district police and CRPF. Many other locations have been identified and are under progress,” Homkar said, confirming the development.

One of the CRPF personnel welcomed the move saying earlier such Kendras were established in Birbanki in Khunti and Kulhi in Garhwa which is on Burha Pahar.

“Earlier eight such Kendra were planned. After three were established, Jharkhand police with the help of district administration planning are coming to open at many places,” the CRPF personnel said.
