Ranchi, Feb 28: Deepti Bodra, the upcoming Archer from Kolhan University, Chaibasa won Gold in the All India Inter-University National Archery Championship held at Chandigarh University in Mohali. She also won bronze in the 50-meter event.
Speaking to Lagatar24.com, Deepti said that this is a very proud moment for her and she is now focusing on representing India in the coming years. “I first gained interest in Archery when I came to Jamshedpur for a football competition and saw few Archers practising at the JRD stadium,” she said.
She added that she was interested in sports since childhood and used to play with bows and arrows made with bamboo sticks along with the children from her village.
“I admire all the Archers from India and I dream of becoming a National level Archer to represent my country in the Olympics. My favorite Archer is Komolika Bari from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand,” She added.
Sumit Mishra, who has been the coach of Deepti since 2018, said that Deepti has been continuously winning medals for their University. “She has won medals in the 2018, 19 and 2021 Tournaments. She won three silver medals in October 2021 in the Senior National Competition in different events,” he quoted.
