Dhanbad, Jan 21: The police got a major breakthrough in the new year by busting a bike lifters gang with the recovery of 11 stolen motorcycles and arrested two kingpins.

The senior superintendent of police (SSP) Sanjiv Kumar told media persons today that the arrested persons are identified as Nand Kishore Choudhary of Dhanbad and Bakrid Mia of the Karmatand area in Giridih district.

Both are history–sheeter and have been involved in various crimes in Dhanbad, Giridih, Jamtara and Deoghar districts. After arresting Nand Kishore and Bakrid Mia, police recovered 11 recently stolen bikes and a bunch of master keys from them.

Moreover, Nand Kishore and his gang used to lift the bike and Bakrid Mia used to sell it in the market.

“Bike lifting cases had increased in the district in the recent past. Police of course arrested some of the lifters but the incident did not stop. A special team under the deputy superintendent of police (law and order) was constituted for nabbing the gang active in the district. Finally, Nand Kishore was caught and he led to the arrest of Bakrid Mia,” said SSP Sanjiv Kumar.

He added that Nand Kishore is a wanted criminal in incidents in Bank More, Govindpur, Rajganj and Topchachi. At the same time, Bakrid Mia of Jamtara was wanted in crime incidents in Deoghar, Giridih and other neighbouring districts.
