Ranchi, Nov.1: State finance cum food and civil supply minister Rameshwar Oraon today assured 30-day remuneration to the cleanliness workers, who are getting wages of 26 days only under the existing practice.
The assurance was given when he was distributing clothes and sweets among cleanliness workers in a programme organised by Jharkhand Pradesh Dainik Saaf Safai Evam Gharelu Kamgar Sangh at Shree Shiv Mandir Nyas Samiti, Dharamshala in Doranda before Deepawali.
“All labourers should get a remuneration of 30 days and their remuneration should be credited in their bank accounts like MGNREGA workers. I will talk to the chief minister in this regard,” minister Oraon said.
While giving assurance he said: “The previous government was the government of businessmen and capitalists. The present government is the government of villagers, poor, labourers and farmers.”
Oraon on the occasion suggested the cleanliness workers to take advantage of schemes formulated by the government for the poor. He also praised chief minister Hemant Soren terming them ‘dayalu(kind)’, kripalu (gracious) and ‘samvedansheel (sensitive)’ and said he thinks for the poor.
Those present along with minister Oraon on the occasion included organisation patron Alok Dubey, Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo and Rajesh Kumar Gupta alias Chotu.
A ward councillor welcomed the assurance but expressed doubt over getting it converted into reality. “Idea is good. However, without proper discussion with bureaucrats on the matter, I do not think it is possible. First, the government will have to convert cleanliness workers from daily wage workers into contract workers to plan 30-day payment,” the councillor said.
“As far as getting remuneration in account, cleanliness workers are already getting their payment in their accounts,” he added
