Ranchi, March 8: The state government today assured the assembly that sand-laden tractors will not be caught by police within the state and within 15 days 586 sand ghats will be auctioned.
The assurance came from state minister Badal Patralekh after Ajsu legislator Sudesh Mahto raised the issue of ‘sand loot’ in the state asking how come sand mining is going on when 586 out of 608 Balu Ghat have not been auctioned so far.
Mahto was supported by BJP legislator Babulal Marandi, Biranchi Narayan and Bhanu Pratap Shahi besides Congress legislator Irfan Ansari, independent legislator Saryu Roy and others.
“While sand-laden tractors being taken to carry out the work on government projects within the state are caught by the police, Hyva is allowed to go outside,” Ansari said.
As the matter was in discussion BJP legislator Pusha Devi raised the issue of suicide of officer-in-charge Lalji Yadav.
“Sand loot is such a serious problem that a police officer Lalji Yadav committed suicide and the matter is required to be probed,” Devi said supporting Mahto’s issue.
Minister Badal while ensuring no action against sand-laden tractors within the state also asked the house that within 15 days all the 586 sand ghats which have not been auctioned so far will be auctioned by the JSMDC.
