Ranchi, Dec 31: The Jharkhand government had declared the year 2021 as the year of jobs. But the year was spent only in removing obstacles in the path of appointment.

After removing the intricacies related to the appointment manual, advertisements for appointments in many departments including JPSC and JSSC did come out, but the appointment process has not been completed yet.

The situation of unemployment is that while the number of unemployed registered in the employment offices of the state has crossed 5.60 lakh, most of the seats in government offices are vacant, as about 3.29 lakh posts are still lying vacant.

When 2021 was declared as the year of appointment, there was hope among the unemployed youths in the state. This is the reason that lakhs of youth got themselves registered this year in 43 employment offices in all 24 districts.

In 2019, the number of unemployed registered in employment agencies was only 85,122 but it increased manifold in 2021. Between January 2020 to June 2021, 5,60,722 applications were received for registration in the employment offices.

Significantly, Jharkhand shares borders with states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha in terms of the unemployment rate.

Due to lack of appointments, more than 60 per cent of posts are vacant in various departments of the government. About 5 lakh 25 thousand posts have been created in various departments of the state government, out of which only 1 lakh 95 thousand posts are filled and 3 lakh 29 thousand posts are still vacant. Sources said that the state government is working fast towards filling them as soon as possible.
