Ranchi, June 3: The path for the promotion of over 57,000 government employees have been finally paved by the Jharkhand government. The personnel and administrative reform department has withdrawn the ban imposed on the promotion from December 24, 2020.
The ban was imposed after it came to the fore that senior government servants belonging to ST and SC categories were deprived of their due promotions while the government employees of even junior grades belonging to the general category were given the promotions.
The ban was lifted after an assembly committee probed the irregularity and submitted its report suggesting withdrawal of the ban. The same report was submitted to the state government through the assembly secretariat. Apart from this, the Jharkhand High Court has also quashed the order imposing a ban on January 13, 2022.
While withdrawing the ban, the personnel department directed the additional chief secretary, principal secretaries and secretaries of all government departments to use a reserved quota for those ST and SC category government employees whose name is above general category candidates in the list prepared considering seniority and eligibility at the time of preparing a list for promotion.
