Ranchi, June 22: Chairman of the Jharkhand State Food Commission Himanshu Shekhar Choudhary along with a fellow member of the Commission Shabnam Parveen visited Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais on Wednesday.
They gave detailed information about the efforts and works done so far by the State Food Commission to the Governor. Choudhary further informed Governor Bais about the initiatives for dialogue, public hearing, and direct communication along with surprise inspections in the districts that will begin from July 18, 2022. Notably, the commission is set to begin the initiative from Palamu district.
The Governor further directed the Chairman to keep a special watch on the operation of the Anganwadi centres during this programme in the district and to inquire about the Anganwadi centres having their own building and a proper arrangement for drinking water. Bais further said that it should be checked if adequate nutritional food is being provided to women and children here. The Governor also directed the Chairman to check the quality of mid-day meals being provided in the schools during surprise inspection.
He further asked Choudhary to note the prescribed menu for mid-day meal, and whether the children are being given mid-day meal according to the menu. Bais instructed the Chairman to submit a detailed report on the status of the schemes covered by the National Food Security Act 2013, after his visit during his stay in Palamu district.
Furthermore, the Governor appreciated the work done so far and the new initiatives of the Jharkhand State Food Commission.
