Ranchi, Sept.23: Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais today asked youths to pay equal attention to GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and GDH (Gross Domestic Happiness) while addressing the Indian Students’ Parliament organised by Pune-based MIT School of Government (MIT-SOG) and Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad Foundation sitting at Raj Bhawan in a virtual mode.
“World does not only need GDP but GDH also which means Gross Domestic Happiness. Only youth can bring change in the policy of governance. Thus it is my opinion that politically and socially aware youths should come into the mainstream of politics and become change agents,” Governor Bais said.
Talking about the importance of good people in politics, Bais further said if good people do not come into politics, serious discussion on problems will not take place and solutions will not come out. He, on the occasion, stressed on the study of the constitution saying it will help youth know their rights.
MIT School of Government (MIT-SOG) is the first school of its kind to create future political leaders. Initiated in the year 2005, it offers a two-year Master’s degree program in Political Leadership and Government (MPG).
Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad Foundation, Pune, since the year 2011, has been organizing its national conclave every year, with active support from the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and Ministry of Higher and Technical Education, Maharashtra Association of Indian University and All India Council for Technical Education. The platform is absolutely non-political and does not engage in any mainstream party politics.
Governor Bais, who represented Raipur seven times in Lok Sabha before becoming governor, on the occasion, also talked about old universities of the country before saying that he takes politics as a strong medium of social service and stressed the need for youths’ participation in it.
