Jharkhand governor dances to Mandar beat, says Sarhul inspires Nature protection

Ranchi, March 24: Jharkhand governor C .P.Radhakrishnan underlined the importance of Sarhul in the wake of global warming threat across the world.

Radharkrishnan was addressing the audience at the regional and tribal language department of Ranchi University assembled to celebrate the festival.

“In today’s modern era where the whole world is worried about global warming, the importance of such festivals increases even more. This festival inspires humans for the protection and promotion of nature,” he said.

He appealed to people to conserve water and plant more and more. “It is impossible to imagine life without trees, if there is a tree then there is life,” he said.

The governor assured his all co-operation to improve the environment of Jharkhand

“A large number of trees were planted by Vanam Sanstha in Tamil Nadu. Due to which there is significant increase in the underground water level there and there was also an increase in rainfall. The organization will be invited in the state to benefit from its experience in the field of tree plantation,” he said.

The governor on the occasion praised the glorious history of the tribals. “The tribes have a glorious history. Their civilization and culture are very rich. Along with this, the art-culture, literature, tradition and customs of our tribes have worldwide recognition. They are nature lovers and this is reflected in their festivals and rituals,” he said.

Talking about Sarhul he said: “Sarhul is not just a festival, but a unique example of the unbreakable relationship between human life and nature. Sarhul gives the message that man does not exist without nature.”

Those present on the occasion included Ranchi Mayor Asha Lakra, Asha Lakra, Vikas Bharti secretary Padma Shri Ashok Bhagat, Ranchi university vice chancellor Ajit Kumar Sinha, Pro VC Arun Kumar along with teachers, officers and students of the university.
