Ranchi, June 7: Jharkhand governor C.P. Radhakrishnan today observed different varieties of mangoes while inaugurating the mango festival at Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s Eastern Research Complex, Hill and Plateau Research Center of Agricultural Systems in Plandu.
He expressed his pleasure observing different varieties of mangoes at one place saying it was rare to see so many species of mangoes at one place. He added that this mango festival is not only limited to different varieties of mangoes, but it is also a symbol of the tireless efforts and hard work of our farmers.
The Governor said that a prosperous state and nation can be built only by the prosperity of our happy and food-giving farmers and suggested ICAR try to establish a unique identity at the national and international level along with developing different varieties of mangoes in the state.
Mentioning initiatives taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the development of farmers, he said under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, the amount is being provided directly to the farmers in their accounts and many researches are being done continuously by our scientists in the interest of farmers.
“Farmers should be aware of those researches and take advantage of them,” he said, expressing hope that this mango festival-cum-farmers fair would help in popularizing new varieties of mango, state-of-the-art techniques and innovative products.
While appreciating the efforts of the progressive farmers on the said occasion, the Governor asked them to make others aware as well. Progressive farmers and people doing better work in the field of the nursery were also honoured by him.
