Deoghar, May 16: Barhi tola, a village in Jharkhand’s Deoghar, which houses one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, has been renamed Pakistan.
The rechristening of the village, falling under Sarath subdivision of Sabjaur panchayat has been done in a tender floated on May 12 by a Jharkhand government entity.
The Deoghar District Board has floated a tender to construct a PCC (Plain Cement Concrete) road to Pakistan from a village of Sarath block.
As per the published tender, a road from Dhar Pokhar to Pakistan (Barhi Tola) is required to be construed under the Sabjaur panchayat of Sarath block.
Talking to Lagatar24.Com, the Executive engineer of the concerned department, K K Chaudhary, however, admitted it as an error that would be rectified soon.
The Chairperson of Zila Parishad, Kiran Devi, reacting to this error, said that an error would have been done when the recommendation for the construction of the road was initiated.
However, a local, requesting anonymity, shared the reason for rechristening the ‘Barhi tola’ as Pakistan. “This hamlet is underdeveloped. Even basic facilities are not accessible to the locals there. So that very Tola has been nicknamed Pakistan,” he added.
