Jharkhand govt to conduct research on Hazaribag’s famous sweet khirmohan

Hazaribag, Jan 12: Jharkhand government has decided to conduct research on Chouparan’s Khirmohan by sending a team of Dr Ramdayal Munda Janjatiya Kalyan Shodh Sansthan to make a documentary on this popular sweet. 

The team arrived at Hazaribag on Wednesday and captured everything related to khirmoham right from how it’s made to customers enjoying its taste. 

Notably, Chouparan is around 50 km from Hazaribag district headquarters and now has many shops selling khirmohan on the GT road. Vehicles going through this stretch never forget to stop and purchase the famous sweet.

Moreover, the mouth-watering sweet of khirmohan got praises from Mahatma Gandhi, Vinoba Bhave, Pandit Jawaharlal Lal Nehru, RJD supremo Lalu Yadav, Uttar Pradesh’s former CM Akhilesh Yadav, Raj Babbar, Yashwant Sinha, Shatrughan Sinha, Smriti Irani, Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni to many other top leaders to celebrities.

Sansthan’s director Vikas Aryan said the state government is carrying out research on 40 to 45 popular food items in the state. 

“We have made an hour-long documentary on khirmohan which will be used to carry a thorough research on khirmohan to know the reason behind its popularity. The team made a documentary at Vishnu khirmohan, the oldest shop running here since the year 1932,” the director said.

Moreover, Chouparan earned the name of khirmohan Nagri as well because of this sweet. It is its popularity that those coming to Hazaribag never forget to demand khirmohan.
