Ranchi, July 19: The Jharkhand government today admitted in the High Court to have received one complaint of religious conversion in Santhal Pargana.
The admission came during hearing of a PIL, filed by Daniel Danish demanding check on ‘land jihad’ under which Bangladeshis infiltrate in Santhal Pargana and marry tribal women after converting their religion.
The government, while admitting once case of religious conversion, also admitted the existence of as many 100 Madarasas in Jamtara, one of the districts of Santhal Pargana. The number admitted by the government is 59 more than informed by the petitioner.
Response of the union home ministry is yet to come in the matter.
The petitioner has submitted that people of Bangladeshi origin are coming to Jharkhand by infiltrating from the border areas of Jharkhand like Jamtara, Pakur, Godda and Sahibganj of Santhal Pargana region.
